Chairperson's Message

Dear Residents & Friends of Rivervale Court RC Youth Chapter,

We would first like to thank all of you for the support over the past 3 years. Thank you for participating in our events and providing valuable feedback to the committee so that we can improve and do better. We are beyond grateful for all the encouragement you have given us, which motivated us in wanting to do more to serve the community.

In April 2018, we ventured into the term of the 2nd Executive Committee, marking a significant milestone for the RCYC. The founding years in the last term has not always been a smooth sailing one, but we are glad that we bonded together as a team and took on any challenges positively.

On behalf of the leadership team, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the Punggol East Grassroots Leadership team – our Grassroots Adviser, Mr Charles Chong, CCC Chairman, Mr Raymond Lye, BBM & RCYC Champions, Mr Kelvin Ang, PBM & Mr Eric Tan, PBM as well as all of our Rivervale Court RC members – for the trust, confidence and support you have given us since we started our RCYC. Of course, thank you also to the PA team - our unsung heroes and heroines who work silently behind the scene to serve our residents.

For this term, we have grown stronger together as a team. We organised a wide range of new events and programmes to outreach to more residents, including the Youth Carnival, Children’s Day, Merdeka Generation Gathering and ReturnLah! Umbrella Sharing Project. We have been focusing more on quality engagement with our residents, hoping to understand your concerns and needs better. Ultimately, we hope to develop new programmes and events that can benefit the community-at-large. This will be an ongoing process and we hope to continue improving ourselves and do better each time so that we can serve our residents more effectively.

While serving our residents remain the bedrock of our existence, it is also equally important to provide a conducive environment for our youths. In order to develop our youths to their fullest potential, the Leadership Training & Teambuilding committee has been working hard to organise various activities, events and camps to achieve our internal goals. Apart from that, we have also established three interest groups – Performances, Stage Production and Nerf Gun Interest Groups – to cater to the diverse interests of our youths.

In Rivervale Court RC Youth Chapter, we also placed great emphasis on leadership succession and providing deserving youths with leadership roles. We hope to empower them – we want to groom and train all of our youths to become a better individual, with good character and values as well as be equipped with the relevant skills and expertise. While serving our residents, we want our youths to grow as a person, gain confidence and build up our social capital.

Our commitment to our community and members lies in our values, mission and vision – which was finalised during our Annual General Meeting 2018. By discussing it as a RCYC, we are collectively co-creating our directions and focus for the next few years ahead.

Our Mission:  To be a neighbourhood hub where we connect and engage the community

Our Vision: To nurture youth of today to be leaders of tomorrow

Our Core Values: Caring, Outstanding, Unity, Respect, Teamwork

On a concluding note, we look forward to your continued support and always working with you to forge a better future for the RCYC so as to better serve our community, our residents.

Sincerely,

Sim Dian Chye, Ben
